And with the team going through the motions down the stretch, those in power opted to shut him down to prevent any additional damage. Daniels was expected to rest and get healthy this offseason in pursuit of hitting the ground running in 2026.

Josh Cornelissen of Raptors Rapture just pointed out that the Raptors are now free to trade their 30-year-old veteran center, Jakob Poeltl, after signing him to an extension this past summer. The deal keeps him on the team's salary sheet for another four years and is worth $104 million - but that decision could quickly turn into an all-time franchise mistake if Poeltl's injury concerns don't improve.

When the off-season first opened, Toronto's rotation plans for 2026 featured plenty of uncertainty, with Chris Bassitt and Max Scherzer set to hit free agency, and Shane Bieber (player option) highly expected to join them. For as maligned as the Red Sox defense is (largely confined to errors, the Sox rated better by other metrics) Wilyer Abreu has been an excellent fit. Right field at Fenway Park is big. It has corners. It has a bullpen. It has the Pesky Pole. It's a challenge and Abreu handles it with aplomb.

You can talk about cornerback holes and the lack of offensive line depth, but everyone knows a quarterback can spray perfume on most any problem if he's good enough.

It seems oddsmakers are suggesting that Matthews will miss his former teammate and winger, all-star Mitch Marner, now with the Vegas Golden Knights. The Maple Leafs' star center is coming off an injury-plagued season where he scored only thirty-three goals, far below his franchise-best sixty-nine that he achieved during the 2023-2024 season.
