Thousands of farmers in Germany protested in Berlin over rising costs and plans to phase out agricultural fuel subsidies.
The protesters called on the government to scrap the plans, warning that many farmers would go bankrupt.
The finance minister, Christian Lindner, acknowledged the anger among farmers and called for a dialogue about the role of the state. [ more ]
