Authorities reported that an 11-year-old boy suffered very severe trauma to his right hand, raising concerns about the potential loss of the appendage. Meanwhile, the 13-year-old sustained lacerations and burns to his face and right eye. Both boys were involved in playing with fireworks outside just after 7 p.m. in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. Thankfully, they were both taken to a hospital where they are expected to survive their injuries.
"I wouldn't want my kids to go through something I went through. ... I learned from it. At the end of the day, I'm a big person, but this happened to me. It could happen to anybody. So put it out there. What's to be embarrassed about? There's nothing to be embarrassed about. It's just you live and learn from it."
