In Japan, the way I dressed became one of the clearest lessons about work, credibility, and belonging. I quickly learned that even in casual offices, there are unspoken expectations.

In a statement on Friday, the council cited legislation that allows council bus drivers to refuse entry where a passenger's clothing is likely to dirty or damage the vehicle, or cause inconvenience or damage to other passengers or the driver. This can include circumstances where a passenger is wearing wet or sandy clothing that could impact the cleanliness and comfort of the shared transport environment, a spokesperson said.

The clubs are strict they have security guards, and apparently everyone expects you to wear high heels and tiny dresses, neither of which are really my style. On two occasions, my friends and their tiny dresses were approved by the bouncer, but my mom jeans and I were not. I was embarrassed, but the fact that my friends decided not to go in made me feel a lot better.

The workers, backed by the union, filed class-action lawsuits in Illinois and Colorado, and filed complaints with California's Labor and Workforce Development Agency in a push for the agency to penalize the coffee chain. According to the lawsuits, Colorado state law prohibits employers from imposing expenses on workers without the workers' consent. Meanwhile, several plaintiffs say they asked their employer to reimburse them for funds they spent on new clothing, but their requests were denied.

Stella Artois has paid homage to the Wimbledon dress code in special-edition packaging before. In 2023, retail outlets in the U.K. sold white bottles with vertical green and purple stripes, but the bottles had plenty of colorful ornamentation that wouldn't have made the cut if a player wore it on a polo shirt, like a full-color Stella Artois logo and golden text.

Never wear a vest or sleeveless top without shaving your armpits or without a bra underneath... No man, not even your husband, will like to see you that way.
