UFC star Conor McGregor is once again teasing the possibility of his return to competition, this time against a "no name" opponent. McGregor (22-6) has been out of action since July 2021, but has repeatedly expressed his interest in taking a fight in 2026 -- particularly at the UFC's White House event in June. On Saturday, the former two-weight champion shared on social media he was willing to accept a "no name" opponent, and urged the UFC to send him a contract.
"No, no. We're 1-1. I'm fighting for the championship next,' Gaethje told Stephen A. Smith. "I mean, that is the biggest fight in the world. For me, for this division, it's the biggest fight that any of us can ever have. I'm fighting for an undisputed gold championship belt. So there's nothing else that entertains me. If they came to me and said, 'Do you want to fight McGregor at the White House instead?' I would think about it."
McGregor (22-6) knocked out Poirier (30-10) in the first round of their initial clash in 2014. They were both still fairly early in their UFC career, and the rivalry didn't turn ugly. While McGregor had gained notoriety for his trash talk by the time they met in a rematch in 2021, the Irishman still maintained boundaries. McGregor suffered a knockout loss in the rematch, which Poirier believes turned him bitter.

The alleged victim, who is described in the lawsuit as a 49-year-old business executive, had accused McGregor of sexual battery during a Miami Heat game in June 2023 at Kaseya Center in Miami.
UFC 322 at New York's Madison Square Garden on Saturday features two former champions who've turned in their titles to chase new ones. It's the third such scenario this year, ushering in what feels like the post-double champion era. To understand how the UFC got here, Jeff Wagenheim looks back at the first double champion, and Dre Waters gives a statistical breakdown of two UFC 322 title fights and the trends to keep in mind heading into the weekend.
"Let me ask you, what do you think Jon would do in the next couple of months that would make me trust putting him on the White House card?" White said. "So I already said that I don't trust him, and you're asking me what could he do for me to trust him in the next three months? You don't trust him!"
