Former player Robinson Chirinos will return to the Orioles but in a new role. The club announced that he will be working as a special assistant in the baseball operations and player development department. Roch Kubatko of MASNsports.com was among those to relay the news, adding that Chirinos will "support players, coaches, and staff across our lower levels, providing leadership, mentorship, and reinforcement of organizational philosophies."
New Cardinals coach Mike LaFleur will retain defensive coordinator Nick Rallis, a source confirmed to ESPN NFL Insider Jeremy Fowler. Rallis was brought to Arizona in 2023 by former head coach Jonathan Gannon, who was fired on Jan. 5 after a 3-14 season. Rallis will enter his fourth season as the Cardinals' defensive coordinator. Arizona also plans on hiring former Giants special teams coordinator Michael Ghobrial in the same role, according to reports.
Head coach Dan Quinn is giving his new defensive play-caller the freedom to implement his preferred scheme and assemble the staff to ensure he can hit the ground running. He'll also likely be heavily involved in the acquisition side of things during the recruitment period, alongside general manager Adam Peters. That's for the future. For now, his tweaks to the coaches working under him are saying a lot about how Jones plans to go about his business in Washington.
Head coach Dan Quinn has already made changes to his staff this offseason. Nobody expected anything less after the Washington Commanders failed to meet expectations in 2025, but it was a drastic roll of the dice that can hopefully lead to improved fortunes moving forward. Both coordinators have been replaced. Daronte Jones will lead the defense, and David Blough will spearhead the offense.
Injuries and a loan of Josip Stanišić saw Laimer not used as frequently in his preferred central midfield, but more at right-back. In 44 games that season, Laimer started 28 games. He also played 18 games at right-back, which would be sign of things to come. Toward the end of that 2023/24 campaign he was used almost exclusive in the central midfield, but it was clear that was more than adequate as a right-back.
Reich was hired Wednesday by Glenn as the Jets' offensive coordinator 30 years after they played together on New York's 1-15 team. The former NFL and Stanford head coach replaces Tanner Engstrand, who agreed to part ways with the team last week after one year running the Jets' offense during a 3-14 season. Amid a major coaching staff shakeup this offseason, the 64-year-old Reich gives Glenn an experienced play caller and veteran presence on the offensive side of the ball.
The matchup is set for Super Bowl LX. Unfortunately, it does not feature the Chicago Bears. Instead, it will be the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks squaring off for the Lombardi Trophy on Feb. 8. In the meantime, the Bears (and 29 other NFL teams) are in full-on offseason mode. It's not where I'd rather be, but that is neither here nor there.
