Patrick Roy was relieved of his head coaching duties for the NY Islanders with four games remaining in the season, and Peter DeBoer was appointed as his replacement. DeBoer is expected to bring in his own assistants, leading to the dismissal of assistant coach Benoit Desrosiers. Steve Spott, who has worked with DeBoer for 11 seasons, may be considered for an assistant coaching role. Spott has a strong track record with power plays, an area where the Islanders have struggled recently.
