1 day agoGive Carrots The Ultimate Sticky-Sweet Glaze With This Classic Soda - Tasting Table
Carrots can be enhanced with a soda glaze, particularly using Coca-Cola, to create a sweet and flavorful dish.
Of all the ways in which we can prepare vegetables, boiling is perhaps the worst thing we can do to them. While it's not necessarily true that boiling vegetables reduces the efficacy of their nutrients, it is true that some of the chemical compounds responsible for their flavors tend to leak into the water as they boil. This is especially noticeable in carrots.
Now, if you're asking why, it's because carrots release more antioxidants than other veggies during the canning process - specifically beta carotene, which is essential for things like good vision, immune function, and to protect against chronic diseases. Not to mention, carrots make for a tasty side dish that most adults and kids alike can agree on. They don't get the same bad rap as something like broccoli or Brussels sprouts, which was why I set out to collect all the brands of store-bought canned carrots.
Carrots are one of the most perfect vegetables to make as a side dish. Aside from being easily available and inexpensive, carrots are a nutrition powerhouse loaded with essential vitamins, minerals, and fiber. They are also quite versatile, compatible with a number of vegetables, fruit, spices and herbs. You can simply boil or steam for a quick side or dress up your carrots to turn them into the star of the meal. Most importantly, you'll be hard pressed to find someone who loathes carrots.
