Anthony Gomez, creator behind the event's co-promoter, SJ Foos, said Kehlani's performance comes at a particularly opportune time: "She's one of the most legendary and talented artists in the world right now, and she's from the Bay Area. There's literally no one better to have while all eyes are on us for Super Bowl weekend." He continues: "She's genuine. Nothing about her says 'industry.' She's as real as it comes."
The performance by Green Day - the multiplatinum trio consisting of vocalist-guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist Mike Dirnt and drummer Tré Cool - celebrates the Super Bowl's 60th anniversary and will be used as the soundtrack to usher generations of Super Bowl MVPs onto the field. "We are super hyped to open Super Bowl 60 right in our backyard!" Armstrong said in a press release. "We are honored to welcome the MVPs who've shaped the game and open the night for fans all over the world. Let's have fun! Let's get loud!"

Thursday nights at the Market and Valencia street piano bar Martuni's are generally reserved for solo sets from pianist Joe Mag, who's otherwise best known for his swing band Joe Mag and the Kool Kats. But those who popped in for last night's Joe Mag show at Martuni's got a whole lot more than what they expected, as the Chronicle reports that pop star Kesha showed up at Martuni's Thursday night, and even got up and performed a song.
