Set in the Wuliang Mountains, Yanzitou Village is a declining hamlet facing youth migration and an aging population. The new book house, nestled between old dwellings and under a raisin tree, symbolizes hope and cultural connection, serving as a community hub. Its unique architectural design incorporates local artisan techniques, marrying raw materials with natural elements to create a vibrant space filled with light. This project reflects a desire to resonate with the community's identity while fostering rural rejuvenation through thoughtful design.
"The book house, sited on a narrow rocky plot between old dwellings and shaded by a raisin tree, acts as both a cultural gateway and a beacon for rural rejuvenation."
"Under tight constraints, the design adopts an improvisational approach, with ribbed steel bars woven into branch-like arches cantilevering from the roof to form a dual canopy with the tree's crown."
