The project involves transforming a historical fish canning factory into a residence located on Rua João da Rosa. Retaining the building's original perimeter and volumetric envelope preserves its historical integrity, while new elements like yellow window frames symbolize its functional transformation. Inside, the design includes two courtyards that enhance space functionality, with the entry courtyard serving as a mediation point between public and private spaces, offering both natural light and ventilation. The central courtyard functions as the primary outdoor area, promoting a seamless blend of indoor and outdoor living.
We chose to retain the entire perimeter and volumetric envelope, integrating the domestic program within the existing industrial framework.
The entry courtyard acts as a transitional space...promoting cross ventilation and natural lighting.
