Houseum, designed by Milind Shivani Designs in Vadodara, is a unique pavilion acting as both a gallery for vintage cars and a display for ancestral objects. Sited on a contoured 5,500 sqft plot, it integrates seamlessly with the landscape and respects ecological elements. The design features ten stepped levels for vehicular display, ensuring clarity and ease of access. Built with modular materials like brick arches and a fiberglass roof, Houseum reflects the character of the surrounding structures while emphasizing environmental sustainability through its adaptable framework.
The Houseum is designed to function as an architectural extension of a private family estate, merging vintage car displays with ancestral objects in harmonious fashion.
The pavilion features ten stepped levels utilizing a modular metal frame, allowing for efficient vintage car display while subtly integrating with Vadodara's contoured landscape.
Rather than a dominant volume, the Houseum adopts a recessed posture, emphasizing continuity with the natural terrain and preserving its ecological and historical context.
Using a combination of load-bearing brick arches and a hyperbolic paraboloid fiberglass roof, Houseum visually connects to the adjacent bungalow while minimizing its environmental impact.
