Josephine Nigro, a 101-year-old Brooklyn woman, found solace in coloring to cope with her daughter's death, illustrating remarkable resilience through art.
"When she died, I thought I'd go out of my mind. A friend mailed me a coloring book with markers ... but since she was so kind to send it, I [said] I would try," Nigro shared, emphasizing how her friend's gesture opened a door to healing.
Despite being blind in one eye, Nigro skillfully uses a magnifying glass to color, saying, "I can't really distinguish between an orange and other colors, but if I say, give me a purple, that's what they give me and then I kind of balance the colors."
"It takes you away from reality for a little while. It doesn't promise you a cure ... but it promises a diversion, so that's my hobby. I love it," she exclaimed, highlighting the therapeutic aspect of her coloring.
