Emma Grede, cofounder of Skims and Good American, asserts that achieving work-life balance is the individual's responsibility rather than that of their employer. In a recent podcast appearance on 'Diary of a CEO', she voiced concern over job candidates asking about work-life balance, interpreting it as a possible red flag. Grede suggests that successful individuals regularly work weekends and find flexibility for personal obligations. She acknowledges that while workers may step away from their desks, they must still prioritize their productivity and responsibilities.
"Work-life balance is your problem. It isn't your employer's responsibility," Grede said during her appearance on the podcast. This highlights her viewpoint on personal responsibility for work-life balance.
"When somebody talks to me about their work-life balance in an interview process, I'm like, 'Is something wrong with you,'" Grede remarked, indicating her perspective on job candidates questioning this aspect.
