A 100-year-old woman said her longevity routine includes lifting weights, eating ice cream, and going to the beach
""She's a pistol," her daughter Athena, 65, told Business Insider."
""Just keep moving, step carefully, and look where you're going," Coroneos said."
""We were always doing things, hiking up in the woods, finding old artifacts," she said."
""It was a friendly competition," she said. "I won quite a bit, but I was the oldest, so I tried to give them a turn.""
Mary Coroneos turned 100 in June and celebrated with a large party in Norwalk, Connecticut, where she lives with her daughter. She reads two newspapers by mid-afternoon, goes to the gym, and visits the beach regularly. She exercises with weights, resistance bands, and sled pushes. She credits staying physically active, stepping carefully, and looking where she is going. She grew up in a coal mining town, stayed active with chores and outdoor exploration, and competed playfully with siblings. She lettered in basketball and volleyball, graduated college at 21, and later earned a master’s in education from Temple. Her daughter attributes longevity to strong social ties and enjoying treats in moderation.
