According to Mark Gurman, Apple is developing AirPods with built-in cameras, aiming to debut this feature in the AirPods Pro 4, expected around 2027. These new AirPods will utilize AI and external cameras to enhance user awareness of their surroundings and may pave the way for functionality similar to smart glasses, allowing users to query Siri about their environment directly from their earbuds, further expanding Apple's Visual Intelligence features.
This technology is unlikely to be included in the upcoming AirPods Pro 3, but Apple is said to be working on it for future generations.
