Washington Commanders' owner Josh Harris announced that the team will not undergo another rebranding, affirming that the name is now embraced by players, coaches, and the culture. Despite previous criticism from fans, many of whom preferred the team's former name, Harris emphasized the significance of the Commanders' name in representing tough, dedicated players. The 2023 season, which saw the team draft promising quarterback Jayden Daniels, has fostered pride in the current identity. Additionally, Harris reiterated his plan for a new stadium by 2030, preferably in D.C.
"It's now being embraced by our team, by our culture, by our coaching staff," he said. "We're going with that."
"The name Commanders means something. It's about players who love football, are great at football, hit hard, mentally tough, great teammates."
