Microsoft's Xbox showcases will now feature PlayStation and Nintendo logos alongside the Xbox logo, reflecting a shift towards transparency regarding cross-platform availability. During an interview, Xbox boss Phil Spencer emphasized that this decision allows gamers to understand where they can access Xbox games, reinforcing Xbox's commitment to a multiplatform strategy. While discussions began in June, logistical challenges delayed the implementation. This initiative is part of a broader effort to welcome players from other platforms rather than trying to convert them to Xbox, aligning with recent trends in the gaming industry.
But I just want to be transparent with people, for shipping on Nintendo Switch, we're gonna put that [logo]. For shipping on PlayStation, on Steam.
People should know the storefronts where they can get our games, but I want people to be able to experience our Xbox community in our games.
The discussions to add these logos took place in June, but by the time Microsoft made its decision, the assets weren't ready.
Spencer also recently said that he's no longer trying to move PS5 players over to Xbox anymore, and is instead meeting them there.
