On November 10, 1995, the original Twisted Metal for the first PlayStation dropped, and no aspect of gaming was ever the same again. Before Twisted Metal, we did had racing games, and games where you could fire missiles and guns and blow things up. But Twisted Metal combined these subgenres and tropes in a way that had never really been attempted before.
One is a shared "PS5/PC" icon and the other reads "Cross-Buy." They add that the new symbols use official Sony fonts and aren't found on PS4. While these new icons aren't yet proof of anything, they suggest Sony is exploring new features that would expand the PlayStation ecosystem beyond a single console, much like Microsoft has been doing with its "Play Anywhere" initiative and recent movement into PC gaming handhelds with the full-screen Windows gaming experience for the ROG Xbox Ally X.
Read-Only Memory, the publisher behind well-regarded volumes on Sega and other gaming history, is handling the project with spring 2026 delivery. The standard edition runs $125, while collectors willing to drop $325 get a deluxe package with a clamshell box and only 1,994 others for company. That's not a typo, by the way. The limited run of 1,994 copies is a nod to the year PlayStation launched in Japan, because of course it is.
Sony has been marking the 30th anniversary of PlayStation by selling you stuff, like PS5 consoles and accessories styled after the PS1. The company has something else lined up to mark the occasion: a photography book showcasing "never-before-seen prototypes, concept sketches and design models that shaped hardware development" from the early days through to the current PS5 era. PlayStation: The First 30 Years is a 400-page hardback book printed on heavyweight matt art stock.

Iron Gate's hit survival game sold more than 1 million copies in its first week on Steam, and has since sold more than 12 million total. It currently features cross-play between Xbox and PC and is an Xbox "Play Anywhere" title, meaning purchasing Valheim on Xbox consoles or on PC via the Microsoft Store also grants access to the game on both platforms. It's currently unclear if Valheim on PlayStation will support cross-play between all platforms.
The original PlayStation hit U.S. shores 30 years ago today, helping usher in a disc-based gaming revolution that reshaped the industry. Four new consoles and lots of hardware iterations later, PlayStation is the undisputed winner in the high-end console gaming space. What were the top-selling games that helped it get there? A newly released list of the top all-time performers across all PlayStation platformers in the States tells part of the story, and it's a pretty depressing one.
Sony held out longer than Microsoft and Nintendo, but it too is increasing the prices of PlayStation consoles in the US starting on August 21. The standard PS5 (the one with with a disc drive) will now run you $550, up from $500. The Digital Edition is $500, up from $450. The PS5 Pro, meanwhile, will require you to fork over a whopping $750. That's up from an already-eyewatering $700. In other words, each console got a $50 price bump.
The original Resident Evil is a horror classic that confined the action to a single location, the Spencer Mansion. Resident Evil 2 took things much further, expanding to the entirety of Raccoon City, building out the story of the Umbrella Corporation's role in the zombie outbreak, and setting the standard the series would be judged by for decades to come. Like its predecessor, Resident Evil 2 has two protagonists to choose from, in this case Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield. Both have become iconic franchise mainstays, and unlike in the original Resident Evil, each protagonist has a separate storyline with branching paths. To get the full picture, you need to fight your way through Raccoon City twice.
Whoever lands the job will play a critical leadership role in shaping and executing the global commercial strategy for PlayStation Studios software titles across all digital platforms beyond PlayStation hardware, including Steam, Epic Games Store, Xbox, Nintendo, and mobile.
