How A Fire Threw Another Wrench In Stalker 2's Development
Briefly

The developers of Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl experienced significant challenges due to the ongoing war, forcing around 200 of them to relocate to Prague. However, an unexpected fire in their Prague office caused further complications, destroying vital equipment and data. Despite this, CEO Ievgen Grygorovych viewed the incident positively, believing it ultimately strengthened the team's resolve and preparedness. While some developers, like Ingwar Dovgoteles, faced the loss of substantial personal work, the studio managed to overcome these hurdles, culminating in the successful release of the game in late 2024, earning accolades as one of the best games of the year.

Despite yet another setback, Stalker 2 did eventually release in late 2024 and was one of our picks for the best games of 2024.
