PlayStation has abandoned its dual-CEO strategy under which Hideaki Nishino and Hermen Hulst were appointed co-CEOs less than a year ago. Nishino will now serve as the sole CEO, while Hulst will oversee PlayStation’s first-party titles and report directly to Nishino. The decision may stem from difficulties in the dual leadership approach, despite speculation surrounding the performance of specific games like Concord. Nishino emphasized innovation and community growth in his role, signaling a new direction for PlayStation.
I want to thank Hermen for his expertise and leadership as he continues his role as CEO, Studio Business Group. I am deeply grateful to the PlayStation community and their continued support and I am very excited for what the future holds.
Technology and creativity are two of our biggest strengths as we continue to focus on developing experiences that deliver entertainment for everyone. We will continue to grow the PlayStation community in new ways, such as [intellectual property] expansion, while also delivering the best in technology innovation.
