Diablo general manager Rod Fergusson announced at the DICE Summit that the next expansion for Diablo 4, following 2024's Vessel of Hatred, will not arrive until 2026. This contradicts earlier statements suggesting annual expansion releases. Although the 2025 roadmap will be revealed, it will not include the second expansion. The delay was attributed to significant changes to the game's core systems, causing the internal schedule to shift. Meanwhile, players can continue to enjoy the current Season of Witchcraft, featuring new seasonal abilities.
In 2025, or just before Season 8, we will have a 2025 roadmap for Diablo 4. Now, our second expansion won't be on that roadmap, because our second expansion is coming in 2026.
Our players deserve to have more content and more ways to play, but in terms of what's the cadence and the right amount is not something I can talk about today.
