AI enables anyone to turn ideas into reality without waiting for professionals. Product managers and designers can prototype quickly and address issues independently. EPD roles are flattening, leading to a future where generalists will tackle diverse tasks. Designers will not only handle design tasks but will also be involved in coding and implementing features. The early phases of projects will require collaboration among different roles. This shift means a broader skill set and the ability for designers to actively fix bugs and contribute more significantly to development processes.
AI makes it easier for anyone to turn an idea into something real. We don't have to wait around for a professional. There's no limit to who's allowed to have ideas.
Designers aren't limited to flow charts, static mockups, and basic prototypes. I predict the early parts of projects, getting from nothing to something, will become shared across roles.
Designers looking to branch out, code is a natural next step. I see a future where we're fixing small bugs ourselves instead of begging an engineer.
Our new reality is that anyone can make a rough draft.
