Labour warned it risks losing support for net zero if costs not spread fairly
Briefly

UK's chief climate adviser stresses that fair cost-sharing in decarbonisation is essential to sustain public backing for net zero. Emma Pinchbeck, CEO of the Climate Change Committee, urges leaders like Keir Starmer and Rachel Reeves to promote decarbonisation as a growth driver. She underscores that despite the upfront investment in renewable energy, significant long-term efficiency gains can be realized. Pinchbeck warns against politicizing economic growth and environmental goals, asserting they are interlinked for a future powered by clean energy.
I would absolutely love to see the government confidently championing this agenda... It’s important that they do it.

There's a very powerful economic argument here, and it always troubles me when I hear politicians polarise them.
