Snow, ice and freezing temperatures have caused disruption across the UK this January as an Arctic blast swept across the country, driving out the persistent heavy rain with which the new year began.Forecasters now expect the current cold snap to last into next week before more milder conditions return, with temperatures staying well below zero in some areas by night.
