Recruitment report reveals rise in UK demand for construction workers
Briefly

A recent report by the Recruitment and Employment Confederation and Lightcast indicates an increase in job vacancies within the construction sector, as well as for gardeners, teachers, and maintenance workers. Despite a decrease in demand for roles such as veterinary nurses and delivery drivers, job postings remain high, with over 1.5 million vacancies recorded. REC's chief executive noted that firms are cautiously optimistic about hiring due to government initiatives aimed at boosting housing starts and improving economic conditions, particularly in hospitality and technology sectors that are slowly recovering.
Research by the Recruitment and Employment Confederation and data firm Lightcast showed a recent fall in demand for veterinary nurses, delivery drivers, and train and tram drivers.
The REC chief executive, Neil Carberry, said: Firms have been working hard to find growth...it is reassuring that some are now feeling more ready to hire.
Carberry noted a substantial rise in adverts for parts of the underpressure hospitality sector, indicating a rebound as firms get back to hiring.
While a sustained recovery in IT recruitment is still yet to arrive, opportunities remain with 30,000 job postings for programmers and software professionals.
