Murder investigation launched after man, 19, stabbed to death in Peckham Rye

Officers were called to Rye Lane near the junction of Heaton Road in Peckham Rye just after 7pm on Saturday following reports of an assault. A man received treatment from police and the London Ambulance Service at the scene and was transferred to hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The victim's next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers. A post-mortem examination will take place in due course. No arrests have been made at this early stage. Detectives are working to identify those responsible and piece together what happened. Police have increased their presence in the area and are asking anyone who was near Rye Lane between 6.30pm and 7.30pm to contact the Met via 101 quoting 6065/14Feb, or to call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
