Suspected arsons at linked Scarborough restaurants leaves 80 out of work, owner says | CBC News
Briefly

Two Scarborough restaurants, Shaaz Indian Cuisine and Bisi Bisi, suffered back-to-back suspected arson attacks, leaving around 80 employees jobless. The owner, Siva Rapaka, described the incidents as cowardly and expressed deep concern for the future of his business, stating he cannot sleep due to the fear of further attacks. Police believe the incidents are connected and have issued images of suspected arsonists. The restaurants' employees rallied for increased police funding and vowed to resist pressure to sell to undesirable buyers, as the motives behind the attacks remain unclear.
Siva Rapaka stated, "If we close our eyes, all we see is flames. We cannot sleep. Every night we go to bed thinking, 'What's next? Which restaurant will [they] target next?'"
Rapaka emphasized their resolve: "We will not be pressured into selling our restaurants to 'undesirable buyers,'" expressing both defiance and determination amidst uncertainty.
