The bus service in Santa Clara County has fully resumed after a judge ordered striking VTA drivers back to their posts. Light rail services are expected to restart partially by Monday, pending necessary inspections due to issues including theft of critical copper wire. Despite resuming services, negotiations over a new contract between VTA and the transport workers' union, ATU Local 265, continue to be unresolved after over six months of negotiations. The union plans to appeal the injunction decision made to end the strike.
"Negotiations can start any time ATU is willing to come back to the table with something that can help resolve the conflict," Hendler Ross said.
"We remain committed to negotiating with VTA management in good faith to secure a contract that guarantees transit workers a fair wage, as well as the dignity, due process and security that they deserve," stated Jean Cohen.
