The biggest perk of having an engineering background is being able to speak different languages. When you're talking to engineering teams, you're able to get into the weeds and talk about the finer details.
Working in product management, I feel that the biggest impact that someone like me can have is cross-communicating across teams. And when you can speak engineering, the engineers respect you and are willing to collaborate a lot more.
