Breakout, a San Francisco-based startup founded by ex-Googlers, has secured $3.25 million in seed funding to develop an AI sales representative tailored for software companies. This innovative tool aims to manage inbound sales more effectively by providing instant, personalized responses to potential customers, addressing challenges faced during high-velocity sales processes. Breakout offers a usage-based pricing model and currently serves five key clients, navigating the competitive landscape of AI startups where investor interest runs high amidst substantial competition.
"Especially as companies go through the growth stage and have a high-velocity sales process, they start facing a lot of challenges around the buyer experience," Gupta told Business Insider. "That's the problem we're trying to solve."
Gupta used the analogy of walking into an Apple store and waiting in line to speak to a human sales rep. Instead, an AI sales agent would "instantly" give you all the information you needed about an iPhone and "quickly get into your buying process."
While there is still a lot of investor appetite for AI startups, Gupta said there was equally as much noise. That makes it "an interesting position for investors," he said, "because they want to deploy capital, but every day they also get to know another company which is building in the AI space."
Breakout says its tools can answer questions and offer tailored interactions depending on each customer's needs, overcoming the challenge of scripted interactions seen in some AI sales agents.
