Affordable housing tower could sprout in lively San Jose district
Briefly

The tower, called Gateway Tower, is a 15-story, 220-unit residential and mixed-use building planned at 470 South Market Street in downtown San Jose's SoFA district.
The project will integrate historic elements of the existing buildings, including Herrold College, named after radio pioneer Charles Doc Herrold, to reinforce the street's rhythm and encourage old-new assimilation.
The street-level space of Gateway Tower will house a historical exhibit commemorating the career of Doc Herrold, showcasing the legacy and birth of radio broadcasting in San Jose.
