Briefly

Roan Mills, located in downtown Fillmore, California, is a beloved bakery known for its artisanal breads and pastries. Established in 2013 and opened as a storefront in 2017, the bakery attracts customers with its seasonal hand pies, fresh pastas, and unique sandwiches. The shop's decor reflects its local history, with an antique safe from its former life as a Safeway grocery store. Situated amidst mom-and-pop shops, Roan Mills embodies the charm of the small town while drawing in customers from surrounding regions at farmers markets.
Roan Mills as a bakery opened in 2013, but the storefront here opened in 2017," says Andrea Crawford, who owns the business with her husband Robert Dedlow.
There's even a large antique safe in the window, left over from when the 6,000-square-foot building served as the city's former Safeway grocery store.
Shoppers seek out the bakery's recognizable yellow and brown logo and line up for delicate croissants (plain, chocolate, almond, ham and cheese) and seasonal scones.
Roan Mills fits right into its small town surroundings, exuding old-timey mercantile vibes with handmade seafoam green cabinets holding a selection of dry goods and baked items.
