Schlok's Bagels, a popular bagel shop known for its unique flavors and high-quality products, has announced the opening of a second location in downtown San Francisco. Located in the Financial District, this new outlet will provide an opportunity for more customers to enjoy their well-crafted bagels, applewood smoked lox, and distinctive schmear options. Co-owner Zack Schwab emphasized the importance of strategic growth to maintain quality, especially in comparison to faster expanding competitors. The new location is expected to open in summer, reflecting the brand's success since launching as a pandemic pop-up in early 2022.
This has been a long, thoughtful process over the past year, as we've all seen what quick expansion can do to quality.
Both Schlok's and Boichik have been lauded among a new generation of bagel makers around the Bay and down in LA.
Schwab, who co-owns The Snug on Upper Fillmore, launched Schlok's as a pandemic pop-up and opened their brick-and-mortar shop at 1263 Fell Street in late winter 2022.
In addition to making well yeasted bagels daily, Schlok's makes its own applewood smoked lox and excellent dill-cured gravlax.
