Posh Korean steakhouse opens under SF's Union Square

The new subterranean San Francisco restaurant is the first ABSteak in the Bay Area and the second in California for chef-owner Akira Back, who owns ABSteak locations in Beverly Hills and Jakarta.
I feel incredibly fortunate to be in one of San Francisco's most iconic neighborhoods. My goal is to help guests embrace the warmth and communal spirit of a traditional Korean restaurant while enjoying an elevated and refined atmosphere.
By 6 p.m., a raucous crowd nearly packed the elegant dining room as the Human League's 'Don't You Want Me' poured from the speakers, enhancing the vibrant atmosphere.
Massive wooden beams that resembled colossal rib cages hovered above diners while kitchen staff, who were visible through the open kitchen space, sliced cuts of premium wagyu and dry-aged steaks displayed like art behind glass cases.
