His family and the Slanted Door Group expressed their shock at the sudden loss but assured patrons that the restaurants will continue to operate under existing management. For nearly 30 years, Phan showcased Vietnamese cuisine and significantly impacted the Bay Area's culinary scene. The community mourns his passing while celebrating his legacy.
While this was sudden and shocking to many of us, we will endure as the Slanted Door has for almost 30 years, said the Phan family.
The cause was cardiac arrest, his representatives confirmed via email.
The restaurants will continue to operate under the leadership of our management team as we navigate this transition.
