Experts advise using clever hacks to maximize paid time off (PTO) by strategically scheduling vacations around federal holidays. By doing so, employees can extend long weekends significantly. Jesse Neugarten from Dollar Flight Club mentioned that 15 PTO days could translate into over 50 days off. However, concerns about workplace etiquette arise, as reserving key dates may limit availability for coworkers, particularly those with less flexible schedules. Surveys show younger workers desire more time off over pay increases, highlighting a shift in employee prioritization.
“Booking key dates all at once may exclude those staff members who might not have the same flexibility in their schedule,” Carolyn Walker, Tenth Revolution Group's global human resources director, told Forbes.
“Federal holidays and long weekends are your best friend here,” Jesse Neugarten, CEO and founder of Dollar Flight Club, told Forbes.
