Gen Z and millennial managers show stronger support for remote work than older generations and intend to implement remote-friendly policies when they reach leadership positions. Firms founded after 2015 and firms led by younger CEOs have noticeably higher rates of employees working from home. Companies with CEOs in their 20s have the highest incidence of remote work. Younger cohorts adopt new technologies more readily and equate technological adoption with greater work flexibility. Current economic pressures enable return-to-office mandates, but generational turnover and continued technology adoption will likely sustain and expand remote work over time.
