As one telework reform measure advances, another is delayed
Briefly

The Telework Reform Act would codify federal workers' use of remote work in the U.S. Code, establish stronger reporting and training requirements for telework, and make it easier to hire military and law enforcement spouses into remote work jobs.
It requires agencies and employees to annually renew telework agreements, undergo annual telework training, and implement new reporting requirements, including biannual surveys on workplace flexibilities.
The bill provides federal agencies the authority to hire military and law enforcement spouses for remote work positions outside the competitive hiring process.
Sens. Mitt Romney and Rand Paul opposed the Telework Reform Act, with Romney introducing a bill to cap federal workers' telework at 40% of work hours and restrict remote work.
