Telegram is not an "anarchic paradise," CEO Pavel Durov says after arrest
Briefly

Durov emphasized, "the claims in some media that Telegram is some sort of anarchic paradise are absolutely untrue... We take down millions of harmful posts and channels every day." The company maintains transparency through daily reports and has hotlines with NGOs for urgent moderation.
Addressing concerns, Durov remarked that Telegram's spike to 950M users led to "growing pains that made it easier for criminals to abuse our platform," which he aims to rectify through enhanced moderation efforts.
Durov highlighted Telegram's commitment to improving moderation, stating, "That's why I made it my personal goal to ensure we significantly improve things in this regard. We've already started that process internally." He promised to share more details soon.
In light of criticism over moderation, Durov signaled an intention for tighter controls: "We already made a change to our FAQ suggesting we may do more moderation of private messages."
