BMW's Best-Selling EV Recalled Because Chassis Beam May Crack
Briefly

BMW is issuing a recall on certain 2024 i4 models due to potential cracks in the left-side chassis beam, which may increase the risk of fire in a crash.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has stated that a failure in the rear-left-side longitudinal chassis beam could severely compromise structural integrity, potentially damaging the high-voltage battery.
Roughly 1,150 U.S.-spec 2024 BMW i4 models are being recalled, including eDrive40, xDrive40, and M50 versions, built between March 7 and April 27, 2024.
Despite the recall, BMW reported no incidents or warranty claims related to the chassis issue and highlighted that the i4 was their best-selling electric vehicle in the U.S.
