At Pedroca's Burguer in Lawndale, chef Pedro Carvalho is introducing Los Angeles to a unique take on Brazilian burgers. With massive patties stacked high with various meats, cheeses, and toppings like fried potato sticks and corn, these burgers challenge traditional notions of size. Carvalho, who moved to the U.S. from Brazil in 2016, began crafting these burgers out of nostalgia, aiming to replicate the flavors of his hometown. His creations gained popularity on social media, leading him to open a shared kitchen in Culver City, with a vision to offer an authentic Brazilian burger experience.
"Every burger comes with corn and potato sticks for sure, and the special homemade mayonnaise. It's like a huge burger. We call it podrao, a big and dirty meal."
"A lot of friends asked me where they can buy the burgers because we don't have any Brazilian burger places in L.A. I wanted to bring a taste of Brazil here."
