You don't owe anyone a performance of grief just because they offered you condolences. You can simply thank them for their concern and move on.
If people ask questions, you can tell them that your mother was a complicated woman who lived a complicated life, but that she's at peace now.
Everyone mourns in their own way. People will probably note that you seem to be handling your loss well and move on with their own lives.
If you ever wish to tell someone, 'You know what? She was really an awful person and I'm glad she's gone,' that's okay too!
