Mobile display ad spend reached £802m in the first half of 2016, surpassing PC and tablet display (£762m) for the first time. Total digital advertising spend was around £4.7-4.8bn, with approximately £3bn on desktop and tablet and £1.7bn on mobile. Paid-for search remained dominant at £2.49bn, representing 53% of digital spend, with mobile driving much of that growth. Video, social and native formats were the fastest-growing categories; video ad spend rose 67% to £474m, making up 30% of all display spend and 37% of mobile display spend.
