The ever-greater combustion of fossil fuels has turned the world's climate on its head, resulting in unnatural weather patterns in British suburbia, akin to those in the Brazilian Amazon.
In just one day, the leafy suburb of Woburn in Bedfordshire experienced a rain dump of more than 100mm, which is equivalent to a month's worth of rain, a phenomenon reminiscent of the rainy season in the Amazon.
While British suburbs now face extreme rainfall and flash floods, the Brazilian rainforest endures a protracted drought, leading to drastic consequences such as drying up of the Amazon River and increased wildfires.
The messed-up mess we call a climate is becoming more deadly every day, with floods that have resulted in at least 384 fatalities in just a week.
