Duggan highlighted the difficulties faced by firefighters, saying, "They got to the second floor, they had trouble identifying the fire apartment because of the heavy, small condition and the high heat." Their quick thinking led to an alternate attack.
Despite the severity of the situation, as noted by the FDNY, "Initially, the injured were listed in critical condition, but they were later described as stable, indicating a positive update on their health."
The scale of the response was significant as "the two-alarm fire drew 106 firefighters and 25 medical personnel to the scene," indicating the seriousness of the incident.
