An unusually high concurrent spike of virus cases in New York City, including flu and a mix of Covid-19 variants, led health officials on Friday to strongly recommend that people wear high-quality masks indoors and in crowded outdoor settings.The city's health commissioner, Dr. Ashwin Vasan, advised New Yorkers to wear a mask at all times in public settings including in stores, offices, elevators and schools, and on public transportation even if vaccinated for Covid-19 or the flu.
