Michel Patrick Desalles, the prime suspect in the cold case murder of his boss Omid Gholian in a Tribeca jewelry store, has been extradited from Mauritius. Charged with second-degree murder, Desalles is accused of brutally killing Gholian with zip ties on February 14, 2017, before fleeing to Mauritius. After being located by various officials, Desalles was brought back to New York where he faces serious charges without bail. The murder, confirmed by a medical examiner as caused by "compression of the neck," left Gholian's family distraught after he was reported missing prior to the discovery of his body.
Desalles hid out in the Indian Ocean island country until Friday, when officials from multiple agencies caught up to him and brought him back to New York to face justice.
Gholian's family hadn't heard from him for a few days, and his brother had even filed a missing-person report with the 1st Precinct, police said at the time.
