An 18-year-old man from the Bronx, Antonio Romero, was arrested for allegedly slashing a 17-year-old girl during an encounter at a subway station. The attack stemmed from a feud between the victim and Romero's brother on social media. The serious injury resulted in a deep cut to the girl's face requiring multiple stitches. Romero claimed he acted out of fear when he saw the girl, who he believed may have had a weapon. Charged with multiple assault counts, he pleaded not guilty, and bail was set at $20,000/$65,000 by a Bronx judge.
According to police, Romero targeted the girl because she had been feuding with his brother on social media.
The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she received multiple stitches for the serious injury.
Romero explained that he was worried that he couldn't see the young woman's hands when he approached her.
Bronx Criminal Court Judge Giyang set the teen's bail at $20,000/$65,000.
