Dimitriy Nezhinskiy and Juan Villar, owners of a pawn shop in the Diamond District, were jailed after a judge determined they posed a significant threat due to their associations with a South American burglary crew responsible for targeting NFL players. Judge William Kuntz emphasized the danger they represent, referencing their alleged involvement in widespread criminal activities. Nezhinskiy attempted to secure bail using his father’s savings, but the judge reversed the initial decision citing concerns over potential violence, although no violent charges were filed against them at this time. Prosecutors highlighted their connections to notorious burglars.
"This is one Super Bowl these defendants will have to watch from the sidelines. This is one they will not watch," the judge said, referencing the allegations against them.
Judge William Kuntz stated that both pose a 'substantial danger to numerous communities across America' due to their connections with a burglary crew targeting NFL players.
